Severely Settling Foundation Gets Restored in Hanska, MN

Challenge

Carla G. in Hanska, MN had numerous cracks through her foundation walls due to settlement. She contacted us for a free estimate, so we sent a Design Specialist to her home to inspect her foundation and create a personalized solution. He explained that her foundation was settling in numerous areas of the basement, and that her best option to permanently restore her foundation would be to install piers.

Solution

Our production crew started the installation by digging out the soil surrounding the home until they reached the bottom of the footings. Then, they secured brackets under the footings and inserted the piers until they hit competent, supportive soil. The piers transfer the weight of the home to the supportive soil, preventing settlement and sometimes even lifting the foundation back to its original position. Once the piers were installed, they sealed the cracks in the walls to prevent water from leaking through the foundation. The installation took a couple of days to complete, but now Carla’s foundation has been permanently stabilized, and her peace of mind has been restored!
