Radon Mitigation System Installed in Arlington, MN
Challenge
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that has become the second-leading cause of lung cancer. You are unable to smell, taste, see, touch, or hear radon. Therefore, it is easily unnoticed and everyone in the house becomes susceptible to it. With that said, lung cancer kills more people each year than the other top cancers combined. According to the World Health Organization, radon causes 15% of the world's lung cancer cases and kills 20,000 people a year.
Kameron B. of Arlington, MN needed to get his radon levels checked in his home so he called our office line and scheduled a FREE Estimate to receive a radon testing with our Design Specialist, Brian Ramirez. After the test, Kameron had a radon level of 9.7 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). A measurement of 1 pCi/L is equal to 2.5 cigarettes each day. A reading of 4pCi/L is when the homeowner must take action and get a radon mitigation system installed in their home. He decided to move forward with the process and get it installed in order to bring those levels down.
Solution
Our Foreman, Geno Mclain, and his crew member started the radon mitigation process by introducing themselves and answering any last-minute questions that the homeowner had about the system. After a thorough introduction, our team began the project by installing a pipe from the suction point of the sump pump, and running the pipe up through the ceiling, attic, and to the outside of the home. Our team installed a fan to the PVC pipe to ensure that radon gas was being pushed away from and out of the home. The process took less than a day, and Kaermon's radon levels went down drastically. He felt much more safe and comfortable living in his home!
