Sinking and Cracked Concrete Repaired in Vermillion, MN
Challenge
When concrete cracks or sinks, it can create problems such as standing water, uneven surfaces, and tripping hazards. Poor concrete also degrades the value of your home. Most concrete issues are caused by the soil underneath. Soil can shrink due to dryness, it can soften because of water, or it can just be bad because it wasn't properly compacted in the first place.
A resident of Vermillion, MN was having similar problems to this on their front driveway. They wanted to get it repaired and lifted to improve the overall value and appearance of their home. They worked with American Waterworks for the repairs. Our Design Specialist proposed our PolyLevel and NexusPro for the repairs, both of which are two of the main concrete systems that we provide for homeowners. The resident was confident in the product, its warranty, and our company in general, so they went ahead with the work.
Solution
Our Foreman and his crew member began the project by introducing themselves to the resident and ensuring all of their questions were answered before starting the work. After a thorough introduction, our crew got to work and started the installation by injecting the PolyLevel underneath the slab to raise and stabilize the surface. This system is a special, polyurethane foam that fills the gaps underneath the concrete that are caused by soil erosion. Next, our crew applied our NexusPro over the concrete cracks to prevent moisture from invading the soil underneath the slab. It also gives the concrete a nice, polished appearance and stands up to harsh weather conditions. To complete the installation, our Foreman performed a thorough walkthrough with the resident to ensure all expectations were met and to answer any last-minute questions.
