Faulty Foundation Repaired in Norwalk, WI
Challenge
A homeowner from Norwalk, WI, was down in her basement one day when she noticed a concerning crack running lengthwise on her foundation wall. Upon further inspection, she found several more cracks. She was worried about what this could mean for the structural integrity of the home, so she decided to search for a contractor to fix the issue. When she found our website, she signed up for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist was scheduled to stop out at the home.
Solution
When our Design Specialist arrived, he got right to work assessing the home. When he concluded, he met with the homeowner. He began by saying that foundation walls are designed to withstand loads from the top, not the side. So when the pressure on the foundation exceeds what the wall can withstand, homeowners will see cracks, bowing, sliding in at the bottom, and/or tilting inward at the top. He went on to say that he was recommending our Channel Anchors to address the problem. These innovative anchors counteract the pressure being put on the wall by anchoring the wall to the undisturbed soil beyond the foundation. The homeowner liked the sound of our comprehensive plan and signed for the project on the spot.
On the day of the installation, our Foreman and his team made quick work of installing the anchors. When they had completed, our customer's basement had 5 new channel anchors along the problem wall. Now, she can breathe a bit easier knowing her home's structural integrity has been restored!
