Settling Walkway and Driveway Repaired in Dodge Center, MN

Challenge

A homeowner in Dodge Center, MN noticed that the concrete slabs along the walkway and top of the driveway had begun settling causing it to become uneven and a trip hazard. The homeowner then began searching for concrete lifting in the area and found our website. After browsing our website, the homeowner was extremely impressed with our driveway before and after transformations and decided to schedule his FREE estimate.

Solution

In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, Mitch S., arrived at the home to inspect the driveway and walkway, provide a solution, and answer any questions the homeowner had. Mitch explained to the homeowner that one of the common causes of settling slabs is soil washout. When it rains or floods, water moves through the ground and washes away supporting soils keeping the slabs upright. Over time, gaps and voids are created in the soil and the slab begins to sink. Cracks are then formed along the slab. For this reason, Mitch recommended our PolyLevel, a waterproof polyurethane expanding foam formula that allows for the lifting of settling slabs, and NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant that provides flexibility and long-lasting durability for joints and cracks. After reviewing Mitch's proposal, the homeowner happily agreed to move forward with the project and Mitch's design was sent to our Foreman, Sam K.

In about a month, our Foreman and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They began by drilling small holes into the slabs and installing the injection ports. PolyLevel is then injected beneath the slab, expanding and filling in the empty spaces in the soil. Once the slab has been lifted to the desired level, the crew seals the holes with concrete. Lastly, the crew uses NexusPro to seal the joints on both the walkway and driveway. They also repaired the cracks along the driveway. After they were done, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
