Photo Album: Waterproofed Basement in Clear Lake, IA

Matt S. in Clear Lake, IA noticed water seeping through a corner of his basement after only a week of being in his newly purchased home. He contacted American Waterworks to have an expert come out to his home and give him a FREE estimate. Our Design Specialist, Eric Hazelton, inspected his basement and found that not only was he suffering from a wet basement, but he also had two bowing walls. Eric developed a thorough plan to waterproof and stabilize Matt’s basement. Matt had dealt with a wet basement in his previous home and knew how much of a headache it can be. He decided he never wanted to deal with that frustration again, so he wanted to move forward with the project as soon as possible. Our Foreman, Jose Castillo, and his crew started the installation by removing the concrete around the perimeter of the basement floor to create a trench for the WaterGuard drainage system. Then, they installed 9 wall anchors along the two damaged foundation walls to stabilize and straighten them. They also put our carbon fiber wall protection system on the other foundation walls to prevent them from cracking or bowing. Once the foundation was secured, they installed the RockWell Egress Window Well around the existing window. and laid the WaterGuard drainage system and the TripleSafe sump pump. The WaterGuard is connected to the sump pump, so water can be properly drained and discharged from the home. Then, they replaced the concrete over the WaterGuard and around the sump pump. Lastly, they installed our Basement to Beautiful Wall Panels to insulate the basement, keep moisture out, and prevent mold growth. These wall panels are the superior choice to create a dry and energy-efficient basement. Basement to Beautiful panels are not meant to be a finished look, but Sheetrock or other paneling can easily be installed over them. Preparing for Installation

The concrete around the perimeter has been removed to create a trench for the WaterGuard drainage system.

Carbon Fiber Wall Protection

The Carbon Fiber strips help to prevent future cracking or bowing of a foundation. The WaterGuard drainage system has also been laid around the perimeter of the basement.

During Anchor Installation

Our crew installed 9 wall anchors to permanently secure and stabilize Matt's foundation walls. Also, the drainage system has been installed and the gaps in the trench have been filled back with rock.

Installing the RockWell Egress Window Well

The soil surrounding the home has been removed to install the RockWell Egress Window Well and the wall anchors. SilverGlo has been installed externally on the foundation to prevent moisture from seeping in and to help insulate the basement.

RockWell Egress Cover

The polycarbonate safety cover has been installed to keep leaves and debris out while still allowing natural sunlight and fresh air to enter the basement. It is not intended for foot traffic, but it can hold up to 500 lbs and can prevent family members from accidentally falling into the window well.

TripleSafe Sump Pump

Our most reliable sump pump has been installed and the concrete has been replaced.

Basement to Beautiful Wall Panels

Designed with the unique, advanced SilverGlo graphite-infused foam insulation, this insulation provides 24% more energy savings than conventional foam products. Sheetrock or other paneling can be easily installed by another contractor over the Basement to Beautiful panels to finish the basement walls. Basement to Beautiful panels are not meant to be a finished look.
