Photo Album: Waterproofing and Radon Mitigation in Jackson, MN

Chris N. in Jackson, MN had water seeping into his basement where the floor meets the wall. He also learned that his home had a high level of radon, and he was worried about the quality of air in his home and the health implications. He contacted American Waterworks to learn more about our waterproofing and radon mitigation systems.  We were able to successfully waterproof his basement by installing our WaterGuard drainage system around the perimeter of his basement and a feed line through the middle of the floor. Next, we installed our sump pump in the corner with a battery backup, and our CleanSpace wall vapor barrier along the walls. Water now drains through the WaterGuard into the sump pump. From there, the water is pumped through the discharge line and is expelled from the home.  Lastly, the team replaced 2 of the old basement windows with our EverLast windows for a better looking, more energy-efficient solution.  Then, the crew installed our radon mitigation system. First, they inserted a PVC pipe through the sump pump system which creates a suction point for radon gas. The PVC pipes runs up the basement wall, through the wall, outside of the home, and up to the roof. There is a fan near the exit point on the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed out and away from the home. Our radon mitigation system can easily be installed alongside our waterproofing systems without the need to contact additional contractors. Chris is glad he took the necessary measures to make his home a dry and healthy space!
