Julie B. from Saint Paul, MN owned a home that she wasn’t currently living in. Her son was experiencing some health issues, and Julie wanted to address the wet basement and high radon levels in the home before they moved in. The home had an old sump pump that was failing, and the water was causing damage to the property. Julie was concerned about the health implications and started to do some research online. She wanted to get the work done without the need to call multiple contractors, so she gave us a call. We sent our Design Specialist, Shane Nephew, to meet with Julie, evaluate the situation, and propose a custom designed, permanent solution for her home. Julie was impressed with Shane’s presentation, the quality of the products, and the lifetime warranty, so she moved forward with the project. Our Foreman, Austin Lucas, and his production crew began the project by removing the concrete around the perimeter of the basement to make a trench for the 125 feet of the Water Guard drainage system. Next, they installed our recommended TripleSafe sump pump and the Basement To Beautiful Insulated Panels along the walls. The Basement To Beautiful panels provide insulation and a waterproof vapor barrier, and they will never rot or support mold growth. Then, the crew installed 4 new EverLast Basement windows to improve the basement’s appearance. Lastly, our radon mitigation Foreman, Dakota Merchlewitz, easily installed our radon system alongside the waterproofing project by inserting a PVC pipe through her sump pump which creates a suction point for the gas. The PVC pipe runs up and out of the house. There is a fan installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the gas is pushed out and away from the home. Julie was thrilled with the results, and her mind is at ease, knowing her home is now a clean, dry, and healthy space!
