Dodge County Courthouse Gets Waterproofed
Challenge
The Dodge County Courthouse, located in Mantorville, MN is the oldest working courthouse in the State of Minnesota. Unfortunately, the courthouse had water leaking into the basement through the floor. This was not the first time they had experienced this problem, and they were concerned about the air quality and the health implications it could cause. They knew that anytime they experienced a heavy rain or snow melt, they would have to deal with a wet basement, and it was time to contact a professional. They did their research and were happy to learn that American Waterworks has been the leading waterproofing contractor in the region for 30 years! We sent one of our Design Specialists, Chad Johnson, to meet with their representative and propose a unique solution to fit their needs. They approved of the plan and moved forward with an installation date.
Solution
Our Foreman, Cole Brinkman, and his production team got to work and started the project by removing a portion of the concrete floor in the basement to install the WaterGuard drainage system. Then, they installed our SuperSump sump pump and CleanSpace wall vapor barrier, which protects the space from moisture and potential mold growth. Water is now properly drained through the WaterGuard, to the sump pump. From there, the water is pushed through the discharge line and expelled from the building. Lastly, the crew replaced the concrete and cleaned their work area. The process only took two days to complete, and the basement of the courthouse has since been a dry and healthy space.
