Basements can leak water from just about anywhere, including walls, windows, floor cracks, stairways, and pipes. The most common causes of basement leaks are due to the pressure that gets created by the water found in the soil that surrounds the foundation.

A resident in Gwinner, ND was experiencing issues similar to this -- Water was leaking through their basement wall. They called American Waterworks and discussed their problems with our office staff. Our office staff listened to their wants and needs, so they set him up with a FREE Estimate with our Design Specialist, Richie. Richie went to the homeowner's house to carefully inspect the wall and draw up a solution that fit their needs and budget. Richie proposed our WaterGuard Below-Floor Drain, a commonly used interior drainage system, to solve the problem. The homeowner got all of their questions answered, was impressed with the product and its warranty, so they signed the contract and scheduled a day for the installation.

Solution

Our Foreman, Ryan, and his production team began the project by meeting the homeowner and introducing themselves. After a thorough introduction and ensuring all of their questions were answered, our team got to work and started the installation. Our crew broke out the concrete floor, where the wall and floor meet, forming a trench. In the trench, our crew installed our WaterGuard Below-Floor Drain. Our WaterGuard is made to prevent water and mud clogs, serve as an underground drain, and collect water seepage from basement walls. It is also popular because it has easily accessible service ports for service technicians and annual maintenances. To complete the project, Ryan and his crew filled the open-floor gaps with pea gravel and rock and applied a new layer of concrete over them. Ryan and his team performed a final walkthrough with the homeowner and answered any last-minute questions. The homeowner was happy with the work that was done and could not believe the difference!
