Having a wet or damp basement can create more than just a headache. Problems like this can cause bigger problems such as mildew, mold, rot, interior damage, and health problems. Some symptoms to look out for are musty smells, sump pump problems, standing water, wet basement walls, damp floors, etc.

A homeowner in Saint Francis, MN was having similar problems in their basement. They got in contact with American Waterworks and scheduled a FREE estimate with our Design Specialist. Our Design Specialist went to their house, carefully inspected and diagnosed the problems in their basement, and proposed a solution that would work for them and their needs. The homeowner was confident in the proposal, so they got a date scheduled for the installation.

Solution

When our Foreman and his crew arrived at the homeowner's house, they introduced themselves to the homeowner and ensured all of their questions were answered. After a thorough walkthrough, our team got to work and broke out the concrete floor perimeter, forming a trench. Inside the trench, our crew installed 113 feet of our WaterGuard Below Floor Drain, which is an interior drainage system that collects water seepage from basement walls, prevents water clogs, and guides water to the sump pump. Another perk of this interior drainage system is that it has easily accessible service ports for when it comes time for annual maintenance. After the system was installed, our crew filled the open gaps with river rock, which helps with water flow. To complete the project, our crew applied a new layer of concrete over the system, ensuring the basement was neater and cleaner than when they found it.
