Wet Basement Transformed In Bertha, MN

Challenge

Joe from Bertha, MN, contacted us because in his split-level home, water was coming into the basement by the bottom of the stairs.

Our Design Specialist, Daniel, went out to the property and recommended the customer invest in our WaterGuard system. This particular system is typically used in basements and is the premier choice for basement waterproofing as it is installed below the floor, but rests atop the foundation, keeping it out of the "mud zone", making it harder to clog.

Solution

Our Foreman, Raul, and his production crew started the installation by demoing half the wall so that a half wall of our Foamax wall panels to make the basement warmer and brighter. The panels create a barrier between the moist air in your basement and the cold surface of the walls, preventing condensation and providing a more comfortable basement. Next, the team also installed our Super Sump Plus pump in a corner of the basement, which then led out to a standard discharge line outside of the home. The crew finally began breaking out the concrete floor perimeter, forming a trench. In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard System. Our WaterGuard is a patented below-floor drain that rests in a bed of drainage on top of the foundation footing. It is our most commonly used drain system because of its resistance to water clogs, its easy-to-access service ports, and its ability to collect leaking water from basement walls. Raul and his team then covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete.

The drainage system now properly guides water to the sump pump, and from there, the sump pump pushes the water through the discharge line and expels it from the home. Joe was pleased with the results and glad his basement is now a dry, healthy space.
