Watery Basement Dried Up in Oakes, ND

Challenge

Madella, a homeowner in Oakes, ND, was having issues in her basement space; water was entering the basement at the cove joint, or the space where the floor and wall meet.

Specifically, with musty smells, mold, and moisture issues, Madella decided to call American Waterworks for a FREE Estimate. Our Design Specialist, Richie, headed to the property for an inspection, and once Madella and Richie chatted, a plan was made to implement solutions.

Solution

Our Foreman, Arturo, and his crew began the project by clearing debris and readying the spaces for installation. Richie had advised Madella to invest in our WaterGuard system. This particular system is typically used in basements and is the premier choice for basement waterproofing as it is installed below the floor, but rests atop the foundation, keeping it out of the "mud zone", making it harder to clog. Next, the team installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier to address water Issues. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic barrier installed right onto the problem walls and works to catch water entering the space through cracks and holes in the wall. This also reduces the home's chances of being exposed to radon. The crew also used spray foam to seal and waterproof the homeowner's crawl space. Our spray foam is designed to keep the heat inside and prevent cool air from coming in.

Our TripleSafe Sump Pump System has three levels of protection to solve all water problems a homeowner may experience. Along with the TripleSafe Sump Pump is a battery backup that helps in cases where power is lost in a home then the battery will keep the pumps draining any excess water build-up. From there, the sump pump pushes the water through the discharge line and expels it from the home. Madella was pleased with the results and glad her basement is now a dry, healthy space.
