Damp Basement Gets Waterproofed in Gaylord, MN
Challenge
A Gaylord, MN, homeowner was experiencing water intrusion each time it rained. Rainwater would slowly seep into his basement, leaving him with a musty smell and mildew. The homeowner knew that if he ever wanted to resell the home, he'd need to address the issue. During his search for a MN basement waterproofing company, he came across our website and decided to sign up for his FREE estimate. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Eric H, headed out to the home to see what could be done.
Solution
After Eric finished his walkthrough, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations for the space. Eric began by saying that the homeowner was right to contact us. The presence of mold and mildew told Eric that mold growth was possible, which could compromise the safety of the home altogether. He went on to say that he was recommending the installation of our WaterGuard. He explained that our WaterGuard system is designed to be installed below the floor slab, resting on top of the foundation footing, keeping the system out of the mud zone, where similar drains tend to clog. A wall flange extends 3/8" above the floor, which allows it to collect water leaking from the basement walls, directing it towards the appropriate disposal site and keeping it off basement floors. Installation involves removing a section of floor around the perimeter and creating a drainage trench. Sections of WaterGuard® are then placed within the trench, resting on a bed of drainage stone, and the floor is restored. The homeowner liked the sound of Eric's plan and work was scheduled for some time later.
On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Lane, and his team ended up installing 130ft of WaterGuard throughout the basemen of the home. Now our customer can confidently resell his home, knowing the water intrusion issue has been properly dealt with.
