Wet Basement Transformation in West Union, IA

Challenge

A homeowner in West Union, IA, was uncertain if their sump pump was running correctly. Their questions were answered after discovering wet spots throughout their basement. Concerned their basement was at high risk of major flooding, the homeowner knew they needed to find a solution. After looking at several companies, the homeowner decided to work with us, American Waterworks. The homeowner called our Appointment Center and signed up for their FREE estimate. Once the estimate was set, the homeowner prepared for the arrival of Ryan, one of our Design Specialists.

Solution

Ryan arrived at the home and began his thorough investigation of the basement. While inspecting the basement, Ryan confirmed the sump pump required replacement. Additionally, Ryan determined the basement needed to be fully waterproofed. The homeowner wanted the issue permanently resolved, so they agreed with Ryan's proposal. Ryan sent the plans to the office for the final stamp of approval. Our Logistics team built the project and assigned it to our Foreman, Gabriel, and his crew. After Gabriel and his crew arrived at the home, they began the project by installing WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard is a perimeter drain system that is designed to fix basement water issues without the risk of clogging. Once the WaterGuard was secured, the crew removed the old sump pump and replaced it with the TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe is one of the most reliable water pumping systems on the market Next, the crew attached CleanSpace to the unfinished basement walls. CleanSpace is a quick and economical way to encapsulate basement walls. After the CleanSpace was installed, the crew attached an IceGuard to the outside discharge line. An IceGuard allows water to escape if the sump pump discharge lines freeze or become blocked. Once all the products were installed, the crew cleaned up their materials and left the home.
