Damp Basement Addressed in Pine Island, MN
Challenge
A homeowner from Pine Island, MN, was suffering from a damp basement. Each time it rained, parts of the house would leak, leading to standing water, mold, mildew, and more. The homeowner decided to deal with the issue and, on the recommendation of a friend, decided to schedule her FREE estimate with us. Several weeks later, Dustin L, one of our Design Specialists, headed out to the home.
Solution
Dustin got right to work inspecting the basement. When he finished, he had several recommendations for the homeowner. First, Dustin wanted to use our CleanSpace on the portion of the wall that was underground. He explained that CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof vapor. barrier that gets installed directly onto the leaky walls. It works to catch water entering through holes or cracks in the wall, directing it downward and into a perimeter drain. Dustin wanted the perimeter drain to be our WaterGuard drain system. WaterGuard is a unique French drain that gets installed below the floor slab but atop the footing of the foundation. This placement helps keep it out of the 'mud zone' where similar drains tend to clog. The WaterGuard works to collect water running down the CleanSpace, as well as coming up through holes in the floor, giving it a channel to flow to the appropriate disposal site. The basement lacked a means of disposing of unwanted water, so. Dustin recommended our SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump offers an effective yet economical solution to unwanted water. It's engineered to help keep your basement dry, even in times of heavy water. The SuperSump boasts a powerful Zoeller® ⅓ horsepower cast-iron sump pump, capable of pumping 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head out of your basement. The homeowner agreed with all of Dustin's recommendations and scheduled the job on the spot.
On the day of the project, our Foreman, Jesus M, led his team through the installation of 16 ft of WaterGuard, 16 ft of CleanSpace, and 1 SuperSump sump pump. Now, our customer can rest easy knowing her water intrusion issue has been handled!
