Damp Basement Gets a Solution in Holmen, WI

Challenge

A homeowner from Holmen, WI, was down in his basement one evening during a heavy rainstorm when he noticed a steady trickle of water running down one of his basement walls, pooling in the center of the floor. The homeowner was, understandably, shocked by this finding. He didn't know much about leaking basements, nor did he know about a waterproofing contractor near him. He decided to seek advice from friends and family, who referred him to us. He signed up for his FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Dustin L, was scheduled to stop out at the home.

Solution

When Dustin arrived, he began the process by heading down to the basement to see the site of the leak. After finishing his inspection, he met with the homeowner to discuss his recommendations and next steps. Dustin began by saying that the homeowner had done the right thing by contacting us, as waterproofing issues don't go away and will just get worse if left unchecked. Dustin first recommended our CleanSpace vapor barrier. He explained that CleanSpace is a 100% tarp-like material that gets installed directly to unfinished basement walls, working to direct water entering through the wall downward and into a perimeter drain. For the perimeter drain, Dustin recommended our WaterGuard system. This unique French drain gives water entering from the CleanSpace above, as well as up from the ground, a channel to flow freely to a sump pump or discharge line. WaterGuard gets installed around the perimeter of the basement, below the floor, but atop the footing of the foundation, keeping it out of the 'mud zone' where similar drains tend to clog. During Dustin's inspection, he realized that the basement lacked a sump pump, so he recommended our SuperSump plus sump pump, an economical yet effective solution to riding a basement of unwanted water. The homeowner was impressed with Dustin's approach and decided to schedule the installation date on the spot.

The day of the installation eventually rolled around. Our Foreman, Jeremiah F, led his team through a successful installation of 114 sqft of WaterGuard, 114f sqft of CleanSpace, and 1 SuperSump sump pump. Now, our customer can rest easy knowing that his basement will stay dry for years to come!
