Unhealthy Basement Gets Transformed in Garvin, MN

A homeowner from Garvin, MN, was concerned about his basement. Because her home was older, she was concerned about the support beams in her basement. It seemed the supplemental beam running lengthwise in her basement was showing signs of bowing. Furthermore, her sump pump was outdated, meaning that each time it rained, the system couldn't keep up with the onslaught of water, leaving a huge mess in her basement. She was unsure about who to turn to for structural repairs. One day she found herself at the Marshall Home Show, where she met one of our Design Specialists, Ryan P. She and Ryan got to chatting about her concerns for her home, and set up a time for Ryan to come out to her home to assess the space.

Solution

When Ryan arrived at the home for his FREE estimate inspection, he wasted no time getting down into the basement to see the source of the homeowner's concerns. When Ryan finished his inspection, he met with the homeowner to deliver his findings and recommend some solutions. First, Ryan wanted to address the outdated sump pump. He explained that if you can't count on your sump system to be powerful or reliable, then you can't count on a dry basement. Ryan wanted to replace the sump pump with our SuperSump plus sump pump, an effective yet economical choice for riding your basement of unwanted water. To address the sagging beams, Ryan recommended the installation of a supplemental beam and several of our SmartJacks. Ryan elaborated, saying that our SmartJack system provides solid support for sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to sagging floor joists. Once installed, our SmartJacks can correct problems such as sloping or overly springy floors, interior wall cracks, and out-of-level door frames. This innovative system also offers the opportunity to be adjusted over time to provide additional straightening and leveling if necessary.
