New Sump Pump Installed in Plymouth, MN

A homeowner in Plymouth, MN, had noticed the moisture levels in his basement were higher than normal due to the damp walls and water that had formed along the edges of the floors. He was concerned at the damage it was causing his property and asked family members if they knew a good basement waterproofing company in the area. They recommended American Waterworks, and the homeowner looked through our website and was impressed with our job stories. Confident in our crew, he contacted us to schedule his FREE estimate.

Solution

Our Design Specialist, Nick S., arrived at the home on the scheduled date and immediately addressed the issues in the basement. He explained to the homeowner that one of the common reasons for wet basements is hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted by a fluid due to the force of gravity. When water saturates the soil surrounding your foundation, the water puts pressure on the walls. The water then goes through the cracks and holes of your foundation walls, eventually leading to your basement. For this reason, Nick suggested updating the homeowner's sump pump to our SuperSump+ and installing IceGuard. The homeowner thanked Nick for his explanation and agreed to his recommendation.

In a couple of weeks, our Service Technician, Edgar M., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. Our SuperSump+ is installed by first excavating a sump pump pit for the liner and the sump pump to be placed in. Then, the perimeter drain system is connected to the sump pump, and clean gravel is backfilled around the sump pump liner. Lastly, the flooring is restored. Alongside the SuperSump+, the crew installed one IceGuard. These are installed outside of the home to eject water away from the foundation. Unlike traditional discharge lines, our IceGuard is designed not to freeze under cold temperatures. Once Edgar and his crew were done with the installations, they cleaned up the equipment and left the home.
