Wet Basement in Saint Paul, MN Finds A Solution

Challenge

A homeowner in Saint Paul, MN, had noticed multiple signs indicating her basement was experiencing a moisture problem, with some of them including damp walls, mold and mildew, and efflorescence. Concerned about the damage it was causing to her home, she immediately began searching for basement waterproofing services in the area. Confident that we would do the job correctly, she contacted us to schedule her FREE estimate with our Design Specialist, Daniel R.

Solution

Daniel arrived at the home on the scheduled date and immediately went down to the basement to assess the issues. He had explained to the homeowner that one of the most common causes of a wet basement is a failed footing drain. When this fails, it causes the soil surrounding the foundation to become saturated. Water then enters through the joint between the footing and the wall, through the cracks, or under the footing. Daniel recommended our WaterGuard, a perimeter drain system that is designed to not clog from soil and sediment; IceGuard, our discharge line attachment that will not freeze under cold temperatures; and our SuperSump+, which is capable of pumping out 2,200 gallons of water per hour. The homeowner was thankful for Daniel's explanation and agreed to his recommendations. Daniel's designs were then sent to our Foreman, Gabriel R.

In a couple of months, our Foreman, Gabriel, and his crew arrived at the home for the installations. The SuperSump+ is installed by excavating a sump pump pit. This is where the liner and the pump will be placed. Then, they install the perimeter drain system. The crew installed 174 ft of WaterGuard, and this was installed by first hammering around the perimeter of the basement. Then, gravel is placed in the hole, and the WaterGuard rests on top. Lastly, the flooring is restored by covering it with concrete. The crew installed 1 IceGuard. The IceGuard is installed outside of the home to eject water away from the foundation. Once the crew completed all of the installations, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
