Basement Waterproofing in Apple Valley, MN
Challenge
A homeowner in Apple Valley, MN, had a poorly insulated basement and had multiple issues, such as an out-of-date sump pump, poor indoor air, and mold and mildew. Concerned for her home, she searched for waterproofing services in the area and found our website. After browsing our website, she was impressed with our award-winning products as well as our reviews. She contacted us to schedule her FREE estimate with one of our Design Specialists.
Solution
Our Design Specialist, Daniel R., arrived at the home and immediately began assessing the basement. He confirmed with the homeowner that her sump pump is out of date and cannot properly eject water away from the basement. He recommended our TripeSafe sump pump, CleanSpace Wall system, WaterGuard, IceGuard, and Aprilaire Dehumidifier. He explained that our TripeSafe sump pump contains three levels of protection. The primary pump is placed at the lowest level and is capable of pumping 2,200 gallons of water per hour. The second pump is placed slightly higher and is designed to run if the primary pump fails or becomes overwhelmed. The last pump is placed at the highest level and is a battery back-up system in case of any power outages. Our CleanSpace wall vapor barrier is placed over the walls and is designed to prevent leaks and mold growth. It also catches any water from the walls and leads it to the WaterGuard. Our WaterGuard is placed around the perimeter of the home, and unlike traditional drainage systems, it will not clog from soil and sediment. Our IceGuard is installed outside of the home, ejects water away from the foundation, and will not freeze under cold temperatures. The homeowner agreed to Daniel's recommendation, and his design was sent to our Foreman, Jeromy A.
In a couple of months, Jeromy and his crew arrived at the home to carry out the installations. They first installed 140ft of the CleanSpace wall system by using plastic drilled-in fasteners that will ensure it stays on the walls. Then, they replaced the old sump pump with our TripleSafe as well as installed 140ft of our WaterGuard. The WaterGuard is installed by jack hammering around the perimeter of the basement. Then, clean gravel is placed inside the hole, and the WaterGuard rests on top. Clean gravel is backfilled around the WaterGuard to ensure it stays in place. The crew also installed three IceGuards outside of the home. Both IceGuard and WaterGuard are connected to the sump pump. Once it is all connected and everything is in place, the crew restores the floor with concrete. Lastly, they installed the Aprilaire dehumidifier, which will ensure the basement stays dry. Once the crew was done, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
