Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing and Radon Mitigation in Osage, IA

Gary P. in Osage, IA had water leaking into his basement. Some of his property had been ruined from water damage, and he noticed some mold growth. He also learned that his home had a high level of radon, and he was worried about the quality of air in his home and the health implications. He contacted American Waterworks to learn more about our waterproofing and radon mitigation systems.  We were able to successfully waterproof Gary’s basement by installing our WaterGuard drainage system around the perimeter of his basement and a feed line through the middle of the floor. Next, we installed our SuperSump sump pump in the corner and our CleanSpace wall vapor barrier along the walls. Water now drains through the WaterGuard into the sump pump. From there, the water is pumped through the discharge line and is expelled from the home.  Then, the crew installed our radon mitigation system. First, they inserted a PVC pipe through the sump pump system which creates a suction point for radon gas. The PVC pipes runs up the basement wall, through the wall, outside of the home, and up to the roof. There is a fan near the exit point on the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed out and away from the home. Our radon mitigation system can easily be installed alongside our waterproofing systems without the need to contact additional contractors. Gary is glad he took the necessary measures to make his home a dry and healthy space!
