Challenge

Having a wet basement can cause problems such as mold, wood rot, mildew, damage to property, and health problems. Some symptoms of a wet basement include wet floors, leaking walls, standing water, odors, condensation, and sump pump problems.

Due to water seepage, Litomysl Holy Trinity Church of Owatonna, MN had water damage in the basement. The church manager knew of American Waterworks so they gave our office line a call and scheduled a FREE Estimate with our Design Specialist, Jared Bruns. Jared went to the church, carefully diagnosed and inspected the basement, and drew up a solution of our WaterGuard Below-Floor Drain and our CleanSpace Wall System Vapor Barrier. The church manager was confident in our products and had a positive experience with Jared, so they went ahead with the project.

Solution

Our Foreman, Edgar Miranda, and his production team began the installation by introducing themselves to the church manager and ensuring all of their questions were answered. After a thorough introduction, Edgar and his crew got to work and started the installation by breaking out the concrete floor perimeter with a jackhammer, forming a trench. In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard Below-Floor Drain, which prevents water and mud clogs, serves as an underground drain, and collects water seepage from basement walls. Next, our crew installed our CleanSpace Wall System Vapor Barrier around the wall perimeter. Our CleanSpace covers any holes and divots, gives the basement a neat and clean appearance, and prevents mold and mildew. To finish the installation, Edgar and his crew filled the open-floor gaps with river rock (rocks also help with water flow) and applied a new layer of concrete over them, ensuring the basement looked neater than when they found it. The installation took four days, and the church manager could not have been happier with the project!
