Sidewalk Sinking in Afton, MN
Challenge
A homeowner in Afton, MN, was walking into their home when they stumbled on uneven concrete. Worried others could seriously hurt themselves, the homeowners knew it was time to look for a solution. Since it was only one section of the concrete, the homeowners wanted to avoid replacing the entire slab. With this in mind, it made their search limited, so they decided to ask neighbors if they had any suggestions. Many of their neighbors suggested working with American Waterworks, so they signed up for their FREE estimate. Once the details were settled, we sent one of our Design Specialists to the home to perform an evaluation. The Design Specialist discovered the two affected concrete slabs were sinking into the ground, causing the height difference.
Solution
Once the Design Specialist determined the issue, they were able to provide the homeowner with a solution to their issues. After thinking about all their options, the homeowners determined this was the way to go. Once they received the approval, the plans were sent to the assigned crew. Our Foreman, Sam, and his crew made traveled to the property to begin production. First, the crew inserted the PolyLevel, a polyurethane foam injection solution, underneath both of the affected slabs. Once the PolyLevel was inserted, the crew shifted their focus to filling the several cracks and joints. To fill these cracks and joints, the crew used the NexusPro Sealant, a silicone-based sealant that can withstand harsh weather. After the cracks and joints were filled, the crew cleaned up the site and left the home. The homeowners were grateful for American Waterworks' job and that they avoided replacing their concrete.
