Sunken Driveway Lifted in Mandan, ND
Challenge
A homeowner in Mandan, ND, noticed his driveway was uneven and was concerned it would pose a tripping hazard. We had previously helped waterproof his basement, and he remembered that we also lifted concrete. Solution
In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, Ian S., arrived at the home to assess the driveway. He explained to the homeowner that one common cause of a sunken driveway is soil compaction and settling. When soil's load-bearing capacity is exceeded, it compacts and settles, expanding and contracting beneath the slab, causing it to sink and heave. For this reason, Ian recommended lifting the concrete with PolyLevel. Our PolyLevel is a high-density polyurethane formula that expands in the space between the soil and concrete stab, stabilizing it. The homeowner was grateful for Ian's explanation and decided to move forward with the project.
In about a month, our Foreman, Charlie C., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They first began by drilling small holes into the concrete slab and installing the injection ports. PolyLevel is injected underneath the slab, lifting it. Once the slab has been lifted, the crew ensures that it is leveled before sealing the small holes with concrete. Once the crew was done, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
