Concrete Repair in Horace, ND
Challenge
When concrete sinks or cracks, it can create problems like pooling water, uneven surfaces, and tripping hazards. Poor concrete can also reduce the value of a home. Most concrete problems occur because of the poor soil underneath it. Soil can soften due to moisture, shrink due to drought, or become unstable if it is not properly compacted when it was first poured. These situations can create voids, which allows the concrete to shrink or crack.
A male resident of Horace, ND was seeing these same issues on the walkway leading to his front porch. He worked with American Waterworks to have the repairs done. Our certified Design Specialist went to the resident's house, carefully inspected the cracks and settlement, and proposed a solution. The resident was confident in our proposal and felt like we had the solution that would solve his problems, so he went ahead with our company for the project.
Solution
Our Foreman and his crew member began the process by introducing themselves to the homeowner and ensuring all of their questions were answered. The resident was confident in their professionalism and manner, so our crew went ahead and began the project. Our crew started the project by injecting our PolyLevel foam insulation underneath the slab to raise and even out the surface. When installing this product, the first thing our crew does is drill small, 5/8" holes throughout the concrete slab. Next, our team installs injection ports over the holes to guide the PolyLevel underneath the slab. Then, our crew injects the PolyLevel through the holes to get underneath the concrete and fill the voids. Lastly, our team seals the holes and control joints, ensuring the slab is neat and level.
Once the PolyLevel portion was completed, our crew applied our NexusPro over the cracks and joints. The first step in this process is to prepare the cracks and joints, such as removing debris, any existing sealant, and grinding the cracks. Next, our team applies our NexusPro to the cracks and compresses on it with a tool to give the sealant a concaved impression. Lastly, the joints and cracks are blended with a layer of sand which gives the concrete a polished appearance.
The resident was happy with the work that was performed and was impressed with the start-to-finish transformation!
