Radon Threat Eliminated in Wabasha, MN
Challenge
A homeowner in Wabasha, MN, noticed a musty smell in their home. Wanting to get rid of the smell, the homeowner tried to find the source. Coming up short, they decided to reach out to the professionals. Not knowing where to start, the homeowner did some research into who provides the best waterproofing services in their area. The first company that populated was us, American Waterworks. The homeowner looked into our company further and found that we offer many high-quality services. Since they were on the website already, the homeowner signed up for their FREE estimate. Once the estimate was set, the homeowner prepared for the arrival of Mike, one of our Design Specialists. When Mike arrived, he began by inspecting the entire basement and crawl space. Following his inspection, Mike determined that the scent was coming from the crawl space. Additionally, Mike discovered that the home had high radon levels.
Solution
After Mike revealed his findings to the homeowners, he recommended that they encapsulate the crawl space and install a radon mitigation system. Not wanting the issue to worsen, the homeowner agreed. Once they received the go-ahead, the production preparations began. Our Foreman, Jesus, and his crew arrived at the home and began cleaning the crawl space. Once the crawl space was cleared, the crew could lay down the Drainage Matting, a crawl space liner that rests directly on the floor and prevents water from flooding the crawl space. Then, the crew installed CleanSpace on the walls and floor of the crawl space. Next, the crew installed the Radon Mitigation System outside the home. Once the Radon Mitigation System was installed, the crew cleaned up their site and left the home. The homeowners were thrilled to know the smell and radon risk were eliminated.
