Musty Crawl Space Transformed in Mason City, IA

Challenge

A homeowner in Mason City, IA, began noticing a foul smell around their home. Unsure of the source, the homeowner searched for answers. After searching their entire home, they discovered the odor was coming from their poorly encapsulated crawl space. Alarmed this could mean there is a larger issue at hand. The homeowner began looking into crawl space repair options near Mason City, IA. After looking through several companies, the homeowner came across American Waterworks and knew we were the best choice for them. The homeowner called our Appointment Center and signed up for their FREE estimate. Once the estimate was set, the homeowner awaited the arrival of one of our Design Specialists, Dustin.

Solution

Following Dustin's arrival, he discovered the crawl space was in desperate need of encapsulation. Dustin reported his findings to the homeowner and provided them with a possible solution. The homeowner agreed with Dustin's recommendations, so he passed the plans to our Logistics team to finalize the plan. After they were approved, the plans were sent to our Foreman, Jeremiah, and his crew to begin the project. Once they arrived at the home, Jeremiah and his crew began by clearing out the debris from the crawl space. Once the debris was cleared, the crew could fully encapsulate the crawl space. The crew installed CleanSpace on the crawl space floors and walls. CleanSpace is a heavy 20-mil thick liner that acts as a vapor barrier for your crawl space. Once CleanSpace was secured, the crew shifted their focus to installing Foamax on the crawl space walls. Foamax is an advanced polyisocyanurate foam insulation panel designed with a white foil finish on the front and a foil vapor finishes on the back. Finally, the crew installed an Aprilaire dehumidifier to control the humidity issues in the crawl space. Once all the products were installed the crew cleaned up their materials and left the home.
