Challenge
A Minneapolis, MN, homeowner had been aware of their leaky crawl space for some time. He knew that a leaky crawl space could hinder the potential resale of a home, so he decided to find a crawl space specialist near Minneapolis, MN. When she found our website, she signed up for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Nick S, was headed out to the home.
Solution
When Nick arrived, he got right to work. A large portion of his inspection required him to get down into the crawl space to monitor humidity levels for himself. When he finished, he met with the homeowner to go over his recommendations. Nick began by recommending our CleanSpace vapor barrier, a 100% waterproof tarp-like material that gets installed directly to the unfinished walls of the crawl space, functioning to drain water entering through the wall downward. To complement this product, Nick recommended our SmartPipe drain system, a crawl space drainage system with holes into the top and front to accept water from the soil and surface of your crawl space. A special wall flange collects water from the crawl space walls and foot/wall joints. Next, Nick wanted to use our drainage matting, a dimpled mat that goes down before the CleanSpace on the floor of the crawl space, giving water entering the space a channel to flow freely to the SmartPipe. To finish off the waterproofing piece of Nick's proposal, he recommended our SuperSump sump pump, an affordable yet effective means of ridding your basement of unwanted water. Finally, Nick noted that the crawl space was drafty, meaning that each season, the crawl space could be responsible for high energy bills due to its inefficiency, so he recommended our Foamax wall panels. Insulating your basement walls with Foamax provides comfort and energy bill savings while making your walls look clean and bright. Foamax is an advanced foam insulation panel that reduces condensation for exceptional moisture protection. The homeowner agreed with Nick's proposal and signed on the spot.
Eventually, the day of the installation rolled around. Our Foreman, Chris N, led his team through the swift installation of 805 sqft of CleanSpace, 748 sqft of Drainage Matting, 110 ft of SmartPipe, 32 sqft of Fopamax, and 1 SuperSump sump pump. Now, our customer can breathe easy knowing that his crawl space is dry, and functioning efficiently!
