Cracked Basement Walls Secured with Wall Anchors in Waverly, IA

Challenge

Justin G. in Waverly, IA had a cracked and bowing wall in his basement. He was going to be selling his home relatively soon and was concerned that the damaged foundation would decrease the value of his home. He had also noticed the problem getting worse over time, so he started looking for a foundation repair contractor.

Solution

American Waterworks was able to restore his bowing foundation wall by installing 4 wall anchors along the wall. Our crew drilled small holes through the brick and into the soil surrounding the home. Then, they inserted long metal rods. They had dug 4 small holes outside of the home which lined up with the metal rods so that they could place anchors on each end. Once they tightened the anchors, the wall began to straighten and stabilize. Straightening the wall is usually a gradual process, so the anchors can continue to be tightened each week. The wall anchors have permanently stabilized Justin’s home and they ensured that his home would not lose value due to foundation problems.
