Wall Anchors Restore Bowing Foundation Walls in Waconia, MN
Challenge
Nick A. in Waconia, MN had two foundation walls in his basement that were cracked and bowing inward. A damaged foundation can lead to many issues such as severe structural damage, safety hazards, and it can become an entry point for pests and water. Foundation problems can also reduce the value of a home by 10-20%.
Solution
American Waterworks was able to repair Nick’s foundation by installing 14 wall anchors along the two damaged walls. We dug small holes in the soil outside of the home that lined up with where the anchors would be installed. Then, small holes were drilled through the concrete block walls and into the soil. Long metal rods were inserted through the wall until they reached the holes in the yard. We placed anchors plates on both ends of the rods and tightened them. This process permanently stabilizes the wall and provides the potential for the wall to continue straightening because the anchors can continue to be tightened over time.
