Cracked and Bowing Foundation Underneath Garage in Ellendale, MN

Challenge

Robyn S. in Ellendale, MN noticed a large crack in the foundation wall underneath her garage floor. The wall hard started to bow outward and was pushing into her landscaping. She was worried about the potential problems her damaged foundation could cause, so she contacted American Waterworks to learn more about our foundation repair solutions.

Solution

We permanently repaired Robyn’s foundation wall under her garage by installing wall anchors from the outside of the garage. We drilled small holes through the block foundation wall and inserted long metal rods that went underneath the garage floor. Small squares of concrete had been removed from the garage floor so that we could secure the rods with anchors. Once the anchors were secured and tightened, we replaced the concrete in the garage. The anchors immediately halted any further deterioration, and as they are tightened over time, they will gradually straighten the wall. Robyn is glad she found a permanent solution to her foundation problem.
