Bowing Basement Walls Repaired in Heron Lake, MN
Challenge
Wayne H. in Heron Lake, MN noticed that a few of his basement walls had started bowing inward. He knew that ignoring a damaged foundation could lead to very costly repairs or even replacement, so he contacted American Waterworks to receive a free estimate. One of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, went onsite to inspect the foundation and provide Wayne with a solution. Jeremy determined that the best solution was installing wall anchors.
Solution
Our production crew started the installation by drilling small holes through the walls, into the soil surrounding the home. Then, they dug small holes in the yard that corresponded with the holes they drilled through the walls. They inserted long metal rods and secured them on each end with anchors plates. They tightened the anchors as far as they could go, to permanently stabilize the wall. Lastly, we placed covers over the anchors, so they would look more aesthetically pleasing. The process took a couple of days to complete, but Wayne is resting easy knowing that his foundation is permanently secured!
