Damaged Foundation Restored in Gaylord, MN
Challenge
Cheryl A. in Gaylord, MN noticed she was having problems with her foundation. One of her basement walls was cracked and bowing inward and one of the corners of her basement had started sinking. She contacted us to receive a free estimate and learn more about foundation repair solutions. Our Design Specialist recommended that we install wall anchors and two piers to restore her foundation. She was pleased that we could permanently repair her foundation in just a few short days, so she scheduled the installation.
Solution
Our production crew installed the piers by digging out the soil under the wall until they reached the bottom of the footing. Then, they secured pier brackets under the footing and inserted the piers until they hit competent and stable soil. This transferred the weight of the home from the footing, to the supporting soil. Next, they dug out the soil surrounding the home to install the wall anchors. They drilled small holes through the block foundation and inserted long, metal rods. The rods were secured by anchor plates and then tightened. Lastly, they sealed the wall from the outside to ensure water would not seep through, and then they replaced the soil. Cheryl’s foundation is now permanently stabilized, and the installation only took a few days to complete.
