Wall Anchors Stabilize Foundation in Pipestone, MN
Challenge
Jon K. in Pipestone, MN contacted American Waterworks after he saw one of our yard signs in his neighbor’s lawn. Jon had some bowing and severely cracked basement walls. He was concerned about the stability of his home, and he knew how costly it could be to replace his foundation entirely. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Dylan Woitas, to evaluate the situation and propose a cost-effective, permanent solution to fit Jon’s needs.
Solution
Our Foreman, Hugo Sanchez, and his production crew began the project by completely excavating the soil pushing against the foundation on one wall and digging small holes in the ground on the other walls. Using 19 wall anchors, our production crew drilled small holes through the failing block foundation and into the soil surrounding the home. They secured each end of the metal rods with anchor plates and tightened them as far as they would go. This process gradually straightened and permanently secured the foundation walls. Having wall anchors installed saved this foundation from failing altogether and saved the homeowner from the expenses of a full foundation replacement. The crew also installed our SentrySeal membrane and SilverGlo insulation to seal off any cracks and prevent water from entering the basement. Jon was impressed with the installation, and can rest easy, knowing his foundation is now permanently stabilized.
