Deteriorating Foundation Walls Restored in Henriette, MN
Challenge
People love old homes because of their unique charm, history, and creative details. Unfortunately, the foundation walls in old houses can deteriorate over time. Old foundation walls can develop cracks, bows, they can also be pushed inward by soil pressure, and they can deteriorate. When a foundation starts to fail in these ways, the safety and structural integrity of the entire home is threatened.
A homeowner in Henriette, MN was experiencing a deteriorating foundation wall in their basement, and they were extremely nervous about the structural support and build of their home. They went online and came across American Waterworks and our foundation repair products. They called our office phone line at 1-800-795-1204 and scheduled a FREE Estimate with one of our Design Specialists. Our Design Specialist went to their home to carefully inspect the failing wall and come up with a well-designed solution that would take care of their problems. The homeowner was confident in our proposal, product, and warranty, so he went ahead with the project and scheduled a date for the installation.
Solution
Our production Foreman and his crew began the process by introducing themselves to the homeowner and answering any last-minute questions regarding the installation. After a thorough introduction, our team started by digging 10 small holes outside of the home, beyond the foundation wall. Then, from the inside of the basement, our team inserted a long, metal rod from the inside, through the foundation wall, to each hole outside of the home. At the end of each rod outside beyond the foundation, our team installed an anchor plate to anchor the wall to the hard-packed soil. From the inside, our team installed a GeoLock Wall Anchor on the ends of each rod to stabilize and tighten the foundation wall. Next, our crew sprayed 57 feet of our ShotLock Restoration System around the entire wall perimeter, covering the wall anchors. Our ShotLock is a spray-on solution that offers a fast, affordable alternative to demolishing and rebuilding a deteriorating foundation.
Our ShotLock is made to restore the safety and property value of homes with minimal disturbance, it is twice as strong as concrete, it is cheaper than foundation replacement, and it is compatible with other foundation repair techniques like wall anchors, such as in this scenario. To complete the installation, our team backfilled the holes outside of the home, replaced the soil, and made sure the yard was neater than when they found it.
The entire job took about three days, and the homeowner was extremely satisfied with the work that was done. They had a remarkable experience from appointment to installation!
