Failing Foundation Wall in Jamestown, ND
Challenge
Foundation walls move and bow inward due to soil expansion and pressure on the walls from the outside. Since the only thing holding up your foundation wall is the wall itself, this can be a major concern and cause walls to lean or collapse.
A female homeowner in Jamestown, ND was experiencing these exact problems in her home. She called American Waterworks and scheduled a FREE Estimate to have one of our Design Specialists come and inspect her wall. Our Design Specialist drew out the solution of our PowerBrace Foundation Wall Repair System, which is an innovative system that stabilizes bowing walls and can straighten them over time. The homeowner was confident in our proposal, product, and warranty, so she went ahead with the project and got a date scheduled for the installation portion.
Solution
Our Foreman and his production team began the project by introducing themselves to the homeowner and ensuring all of her questions were answered. After a thorough introduction, our team got to work and cut each of the PowerBraces to ensure that they would fit in comparison with the wall height. Then, our team secured each PowerBrace by attaching it to the mudsill at the top of the wall with a bracket. Next, our Foreman and his crew ensured each PowerBrace was balanced and straight with a leveler. In the fourth step, our crew attached a beam to each PowerBrace and to the concrete floor with a specially made bracket to bolt the PowerBrace in place. Lastly, our crew tightened the brackets with a torque wrench, which forced the wall to move back into its original position.
