Sagging Floor Joists Fixed in Ottertail, MN
Challenge
Crawl spaces can experience structural sagging because of three things.
1. The support columns are spaced too far apart from each other
2. The floor joists are rotted
3. The columns are settling due to weak soil or poor footings.
Having tilted or sunken crawl space support posts, not enough supports, rotting wood, water moisture, sticking doors and windows, or cracks in the drywall, it is time to contact a professional contractor.
A resident of Ottertail, MN was having similar problems where their crawl space supports were sagging, and their fireplace was cracking at the very top where it meets with the chimey. They were nervous about the long-term problems and what could happen next, so they contacted American Waterworks right away. Our Design Specialist, Kole, went to the home, carefully inspected the sloping crawl space, and determined a solution that would repair their sagging crawl space. Kole proposed our SmartJack System, which is specifically made for this kind of issue. The homeowner was confident in the system and its functions, so they got a date scheduled for installation and were looking forward to the project.
Solution
To begin the project, our Foreman and his crew introduced themselves to the homeowner and answered any last-minute questions they had about the installation. After a clear introduction, our crew got to work and installed four of our SmartJacks to repair and solve the problem. Our SmartJacks are designed to provide the support needed to restore the straightness and functional stability of the floor joists. This system can support more than 60,000 pounds, it is corrosion-resistant, and it is the only crawl space support system that can fix problem soils.
The installation only took one day and the homeowner was very happy they got this taken care of before it got too late!
