Family Cabin at Risk for Foundation Settlement

Challenge

A homeowner in Browerville, MN, was enjoying their lake-view cabin during the late summer when they discovered stairstep cracks along in the crawl space. Alarmed by this finding, the homeowners quickly signed up for a FREE estimate with American Waterworks. We sent out a Design Specialist, Shane, to determine the cause and solution to the cracking.

Solution

After surveying the crawl space, Shane determined that the crawl space was settling leading to issues with stabilization. Shane proposed that Helical Piers and PowerBraces be placed to stabilize the walls and crawl space in the cabin. The family agreed and the crew began construction. Jesus and the crew dug around the cabin to position the Helical Piers. Next, the crew went into the cabin's crawlspace and installed the footings and PowerBraces to stabilize the wall. The crew completed the project and the homeowners were happy to preserve the summer getaway.
