Unhealthy Basement Transformed in Kenyon, MN

Challenge

A homeowner from Kenyon, MN, was in over his head dealing with issues in his basement. He had noticed several issues that were causing him stress. First, he noted several cracks on the exterior of his foundation. Already worried about what this could mean for the structural integrity of the home, he was shocked when he found water pooling in his basement after a night of heavy rain. Solution

After our Design Specialist arrived, he got right to work assessing the space. After completing his inspection, he pointed out several products he believed would help restore the basement. First, our Design Specialist recommended our CleanSpace vapor barrier. He explained that this 100% waterproof tarp-like material gets installed directly to the walls of the basement and works to direct water entering through the wall downward. Our Design Specialist went on to explain that the CleanSpace would feed into an already-placed perimeter drain that would give the water a channel to flow to the previously installed sump pump. To address the cracks in the wall, our Design Specialist recommended our GeoLock wall anchors. He elaborated, saying that foundation walls are meant to withstand pressure from above, not the sides. When the pressure from the sides becomes too much for the wall to stand, cracking occurs. The GeoLock anchors work to anchor the failing wall to the undisturbed soil beyond the foundation.
