Failing Wall Stabilized in Dalton, MN
Challenge
A homeowner from Dalton, MN, had been keeping an eye on his foundation walls for some time. Over the years, he had noticed that his basement walls had slowly been bowing inward. He assumed the issue was stemming from a large crack running the length of the wall. The homeowner decided he was ready to deal with the issue, and took to the internet to search for Minnesota foundation repair. When he found our website, he signed up for one of our FREE estimates, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, James N, was heading out to the home.
Solution
When James arrived, he wasted no time getting down into the basement. After he finished his comprehensive inspection, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations. James began by saying that foundation walls are designed to withstand loads from above, not from the side. When the pressure on the side of the wall exceeds what it can withstand, homeowners will likely see bowing, tilting inward at the top, sliding in at the bottom, and/or cracking. James then said that while this issue might seem daunting, he had the perfect solution- our GeoLock C-Channel anchors. James explained that GeoLock Channel Anchors are a versatile, effective system that can stabilize walls that are bowing, tipping, pushing in at the bottom, tilting in at the top, or showing similar signs of failure. They are installed with minimal disturbance to your lawn and landscaping, often in a day or less. The homeowner was thrilled with James' comprehensive explanation and solution and decided to schedule the job on the spot.
On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Kingsley, and his team began the process by verifying the measurements James had left behind. Next, they properly measured the distance between each anchor, both inside and out. Then, one part of Kingsley's team began the exterior excavation process while the team inside began drilling a hole to feed a steel rod through. When the hole has been drilled, the anchors are connected to the pole on both sides and appropriately tightened. To finish off the project, Kingsley's team backfilled the exterior holes. When the job was completed, our customer had 11 new anchors in his basement, helping him feel confident in his home's new found safety!
