Solution
Our Design Specialist, Adam V., arrived at the home on the scheduled date and provided a thorough investigation of the sidewalk and basement walls. He explained to the homeowner that one of the common causes for uneven concrete is soil compaction and settling. When a soil's load-bearing capacity is exceeded, the soil compacts and settles. As the soil expands and contracts beneath your concrete slab, the slab will sink. For this reason, Adam recommended our PolyLevel injection foam. The concrete is lifted by first drilling a hole in the concrete slab. Then, the foam is injected through the hole between the soil and concrete. The foam expands, lifting the concrete. Once the PolyLevel has been injected, the holes will be covered with concrete. For the foundation wall, Adam explained to the homeowner that soil moisture could be one of the reasons why the wall is tilting inward. As the soil gets wet, it expands, adding tremendous pressure on the foundation wall. Adam recommended our GeoLock wall anchors, designed to permanently stabilize your walls and can straighten it over time. The GeoLock wall anchors are installed by first digging a hole in the hard-packed virgin soil several feet away from the foundation. The anchor is placed inside the hole and is attached to the interior wall. Both anchors are connected through a small steel pipe that runs through the ground. The homeowner thanked Adam for his explanation and agreed to his recommendations.
In about a couple of weeks, our Foreman, Patrick B., and his crew arrived at the home for the PolyLevel. They used a total of 21 lbs of PolyLevel to lift the concrete. In a couple of days, our other Foreman, Jesus M., and his crew arrived to install 19 GeoLock wall anchors. Now, our customer can have peace of mind knowing his sidewalk is no longer a tripping hazard and that his foundation walls have been stabilized.
