Basement Stabilized in New Brighton, MN

Challenge

A homeowner in New Brighton, MN, was in his basement when he noticed that it had begun tilting inward. Worried about his unstable walls, he quickly began looking for foundation repair services in the area. He found our website and was delighted to see that we offer FREE estimates. Soon after learning this information, he contacted us to claim his FREE estimate with our Design Specialist, Jesse W.

Solution

Our Design Specialist, Jesse, arrived at the home on the scheduled date and provided a thorough investigation of the basement. He informed the homeowner that one of the common causes of a failing foundation is hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure is pressure exerted by a fluid due to the force of gravity. As water saturates the soil surrounding the foundation, that water puts tremendous pressure on the foundation walls. When that pressure exceeds what the wall can withstand, it is common to see cracks, bowing, and shearing of the foundation walls. It is for this reason that Jesse recommended our GeoLock wall anchors, which are designed to stabilize your foundation walls permanently and can be adjusted to straighten the walls over time. The homeowner thanked Jesse for his explanation and agreed to his suggestion. Then, Jesse's design was sent to our Foreman, Jesus C.

In a couple of months, Jesus and his crew arrived at the home for the installations. They installed 12 GeoLock wall anchors. These are installed by digging a hole into the hard-packed soil several feet away from the foundation. Then, the anchor is placed inside the hole and is attached to the interior wall. Both anchors are connected by a small steel pole that would run through the ground. Once all of the GeoLock anchors are installed, the holes are covered back up with dirt. The crew then cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
