A homeowner in Slayton, MN, noticed cracks forming along his foundation walls and was concerned for its stability. Solution

In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, Lance S., arrived at the home to provide a thorough inspection of the basement and to answer any questions the homeowner had. Lance explained to the homeowner that one of the most common causes of foundation damage is hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure is the pressure exerted by a liquid due to the force of gravity. When water saturates the soil, water puts pressure against the foundation walls causing it to become unstable. In two months, our Foreman, Victor S., and his crew arrived at the home to install 10 GeoLock anchors. These are installed by digging a hole several feet away from the foundation and placing the earth anchors. Once it's placed, it is then attached to the interior wall. Both anchors are connected by a small steel pole that runs through the ground. After the crew was done with the installation, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.
