Jenna, a new homeowner, contacted us when she decided to buy a home from her family and needed our help to renovate the foundation as it had begun to sink. When Jenna contacted us, we set her up with our FREE estimate. We sent our Design Specialist, Chuck, out to the property to do a thorough investigation into the issue. Once Chuck completed his inspection, he found that there were various areas of the foundation of the home that needed attention. Chuck found that the North, East, and South walls were all experiencing inward bowing and the foundation of the home itself was sinking, affecting the porch of the home. He also found evidence of moisture entering the basement, causing issues.  Chuck made several recommendations as to how we could help Jenna restore the foundation of her home. First, he wanted to address the foundation issues with a variety of fixes. First, Chuck wanted to address the sinking porch by installing 3 of our Helical Piers, the best type of pier to use for a lighter project, such as a garage or deck. These piers are designed to stabilize and restore foundations and masonry elements. In addition, he suggested the use of 10 of our Push Piers to address the foundation of the home. These rugged steel piers feature a patent-pending external sleeve that strengthens the pier at the critical tension point, providing a permanent solution for the settlement issue. Both of these pier systems can be installed fairly quickly with minimal disturbance. To address the failing walls, Chuck recommended 7 of our GeoLock Anchors which anchor the internal wall of the home to the soil on the outside, straightening and stabilizing the wall. He also recommended 5 of our PowerBrace footings, steel I-beams that are strategically placed and used to stabilize failing basement walls. Both the PowerBrace and GeoLock solutions have the option of being tightened over a period of time, giving the homeowner peace of mind knowing the systems will continue to work as the home settles further. Lastly, Chuck wanted to address the basement moisture issue with our AprilAire dehumidifier system. This dehumidifier creates healthy air, reduces airborne viruses and contaminants, removes musty odors, saves energy, and makes your home drier and more comfortable. Finally, Chuck wanted to add a means of egress, so he recommended our Rockwell Egress foundation to keep the home up to date and provide a means of escape in case of emergency.  Our Foreman, Jose, and his crew began work on the home quickly after Chuck made his recommendations. They worked diligently to make sure no more damage came to the foundation of the home. When the job was finished, Jenna was happy with the work we had done and was relieved that her foundation and basement waterproofing issues were in the past.
