Radon Detection and Mitigation in Stewartville, MN
Challenge
Derek P. in Stewartville, MN learned about the dangers of radon and decided to have his home tested. The results came back above the required action level of 4 pCi/L, so he contacted American Waterworks to have a Radon Mitigation System installed.
Solution
Our Foreman, Dakota Merchlewitz, began the installation by drilling a hole in the concrete slab in the basement and connected the PVC pipe. Derek had an old sump pump basket in his floor, which also needed to be covered and sealed. When radon gas is present, an open pit gives radon open access to the home as the gas emits from beneath the slab and leaks into the basement. Dakota completed the project with installing the radon fan, which pulls the radon gas above and away from the home, and making sure the U-Tube manometer was functioning properly. Derek now has peace of mind knowing his home is a safe place!
