Grand Forks, ND Radon Mitigation System Installed
Challenge
Radon is the first cause of cancer among non-smokers in the United States, and over 20,000 Americans die from radon-related lung cancer each year. Breathing radon gas is a greater health risk than ingesting water that contains radon, and it's a greater health risk to children than to adults.
Cody L. of Grand Forks, ND was curious about the radon levels in his home so he did some research on HomeAdvisor and saw that American Waterworks performs in that kind of work. He called our office line and set up a FREE Estimate to get his home tested by our Design Specialist, Richie Noreen. Richie went to his home, tested his levels, and notified Cody that they came back extremely high. He decided that he wanted to get a Radon Mitigation System installed in his home, so they set up an installation date.
Solution
Our Foreman, Geno Mclain, and his crew member started the Radon Mitigation installation by drilling a hole through the concrete floor of the basement. The purpose of doing that is to form a suction point for the radon gas. Our crew ran the ppiping up the basement wall, to the outside of the home, and up to the roof. Geno installed a fan at the top of the PVC pipe to make sure that the radon gas was being pushed up and away from the home. The installation took less than a day to complete. Vody's radon levels went down dramatically. He was much happier in his home knowing that he was living in a much safer environment.
