Radon Mitigation in Stockholm, WI

Challenge

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is senseless and is the second leading cause of lung cancer, killing one person every 25 minutes. Since it is gas, it can enter the home from anywhere. This gas can begin to build up, creating a dangerous place to live and breathe. The Environmental Protection Agency suggests that if your radon levels are above 4 pCi/L, it is important to get a Radon Mitigation System installed in your house as soon as possible. 

Homeowners in Stockholm, WI were seeing problems just like this in their home - Their radon levels were 10 pCi/L, causing them to worry about the safety in their house, especially if they were to have friends and family members over. They got in contact with American Waterworks to get their home tested for clarification purposes. The test still came back with 10 pCi/L, so they decided to move forward with the project and get a Radon Mitigation System installed. 

Solution

Our Foreman and his crew member started the project by introducing themselves to the homeowner and ensuring all of their questions were answered. After a clear introduction, our crew got to work and installed the radon mitigation from the basement concrete floor, up. Our team formed a suction point on the basement floor, which pulled the radon from underneath the ground. From there, our crew installed PVC piping through the floor until they got to the outside of the home, where they installed the mitigation system. The mitigation system is what pulls the radon from within the home and exposes it outside of the home. Our crew was able to reduce the homeowner's levels dramatically and provide them with the peace of mind that they were breathing healthy air and living in a safe environment.
