Crawl Space Sealed and Radon Resolved in Mendota, MN
Challenge
A homeowner in Mendota, MN, recently read an article regarding Radon gas in homes and wanted to have their home tested. Radon is a hazardous gas that can be extremely harmful to both humans and pets if inhaled at high levels for an extended period. Furthermore, radon exposure has quickly become the second leading cause of lung cancer. During their search, the homeowner discovered that American Waterworks does radon testing and mitigation. The homeowner called our Appointment Center and signed up for her FREE estimate. Once her estimate was set, we sent one of our Design Specialists to perform a Radon test to investigate the levels in the home.
Solution
After our Design Specialist arrived, they did a quick survey of the crawl space and performed the Radon test. Radon is measured in picocuries per liter, also known as pCi/L. A typical level should be 4 pCi/L, but this radon test came back at 6.8 pCi/L. With these high levels, the Design Specialist strongly recommended that we install a radon mitigation system in their home. The homeowner agreed and we assigned a crew to complete the installation. The Radon mitigation system would assist in lifting gas from the home and send it through that event on top of the house. Our Foreman, Juan, and his crew successfully installed the system and sealed off the crawl space. The homeowner was relieved to know that their home no longer has high levels of radon and that their family is breathing clean air.
