High Radon Levels in Fifty Lakes, MN Eliminated
Challenge
A homeowner in Fifty Lakes, MN, came upon our blog discussing the dangerous health risks radon poses in households and was concerned his family was unknowingly breathing in the toxic fumes. He learned that radon is a by-product of uranium, a naturally occurring radioactive element that can be found in soil. Over time, as the soil breaks down, it releases radon gas. Radon is extremely toxic, as it is the second-leading cause of lung cancer after cigarette smoking. He decided to contact us the following day to claim his FREE estimate and scheduled an appointment with our Design Specialist, James N.
Solution
James arrived at the home on the scheduled date and immediately started the radon monitoring test. This test is placed at the lowest level of the home and runs for at least 48 hours. James explained to the homeowner that if the results are above 4 pCi/L, our radon mitigation system will need to be installed as it is the EPA's required action level for radon. The homeowner understood and was happy to agree to James's plans once the results came back. In about a week, the results came back above 4 pCi/L, and the homeowner contacted us to schedule the installment.
In a couple of weeks, our Radon Sales & Service Technician, Jackson P. arrived at the home for the installment. Our radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outside of your home. An in-line pipe is installed beneath the foundation to suction out the radon air and vent it outside. Once everything was set, Jackson cleaned up his equipment and left the home.
Now, our customer is pleased to know his indoor air is fresh and clean. Did you know that you are supposed to test the radon levels of your home every 2-5 years? Click HERE to schedule your FREE estimate!
